Bennies in De Basis
In the summer of 2021, Bennies burst onto the scene with a pop-up restaurant in Zwolle, putting themselves on the map. Despite having little catering experience, guitarist Seb and furniture maker Glenn’s concept proved to be a huge hit.
Their experimentation with food was previously just a hobby, which included building their own stone oven to prepare homemade pitas. Little did they know that this experiment would lead to their big breakthrough.
What sets Bennies apart is their willingness to experiment and only cook what they truly enjoy. Following their success in 2021 and previous adventure at Blue Bayou beach bar, Bennies will have a permanent home at Hostel & Bar De Basis starting April 2023!

ROUTE
Hostel & Bar De Basis is located at Luttekestraat 35 in Zwolle. The hostel is located within the city centre, within walking distance of the central station.
Hostel & Bar De Basis is only a five-minute walk from the ‘Emmawijk Zwolle’ parking garage. A day ticket for the garage costs €11.00 (prices as of 2023). To get there, enter ‘Parking garage Emmawijk’ into your navigation system using the address Emmawijk 23.
Once you’ve parked, take a stroll back via the Emmawijk, passing by Park Eekhout where you can spot some llamas! Continue on towards Burgemeester van Roijensingel and cross over Nieuwe Havenbrug. You’ll find Hostel & Bar De Basis right in front of you!
Opting to leave the car at home when visiting Zwolle is a fantastic decision! The city’s central station is easily accessible from all over the Netherlands, and Hostel & Bar De Basis can be reached within ten minutes from there.
From the station hall, follow signs for ‘Centrum’. Once outside the station, turn left onto Stationsplein and then right onto Stationsweg after 90 meters. At the end of the street, turn left and walk along the Zwolle city canal towards Nieuwe Havenbrug. Cross the bridge and you will find us straight ahead!
If walking isn’t your preference or if you have limited mobility, taking the bus is another convenient option. From the station, buses departing for ‘South side’ can take you to the center, such as line 4, line 40 or line 301. Get off at stop ‘Emmawijk (Centrum)’, cross over the bridge and you’ll find us straight ahead.
